Looking for the Secret to Happiness?

What’s the secret to happiness? Everyone would like to be happy. And most people want to help others achieve that happiness. But, what constitutes happiness? There are many forms of happiness. And the most common form is the kind we pursue for ourselves. These are our own desires and goals. Happiness isn’t the way we make other people feel about us. It’s the way we feel about ourselves. What does this suggest? All forms of happiness are personal. No one knows what happiness is for another person. There is no universally accepted definition of happiness. The Buddha said that “happiness is not something we can easily find. There’s no value in looking for it outside of ourselves.” There’s more than one way to find happiness. Each of us has different personalities, desires, and likes. We can certainly talk about our values and goals, but those are also parts of a personality. For example, what’s your primary personality? What motivates you? These are answer to the question of who we are.

What do we really want from life?

What do we really want from life? Are we looking for happiness? Do we value a secure life? Are we motivated by an ideology of free love, freedom, or justice? Our values are influenced by our upbringing. Our society tries to encourage us to believe that some happiness is better than others. Happiness is a mixed blessing. Some people say that you can’t be happy if you don’t have money. Or if you don’t have a husband. But what does this really mean? For many of us, these things are not important. We’re not seeking them. We’re content to be happy in our own way. At a personal level, our values are not necessarily related to our goals. We may pursue values like power, status, sex, and money, but none of these are necessary for happiness. If we could somehow erase the cultural influence and replace all values with the preferences of each person, no one would be unhappy. Our minds are restricted by the beliefs we inherit from society. In some cases we may even feel ashamed to be happy or to enjoy life. We have these conflicting values. And we’re forced to live within them. If we could wipe out the limits of society’s values, we could live in an unlimited universe. But when we meet someone who doesn’t hold our values, we become hurt and offended.

What would really make us happy?

What would make us happy? No one is certain what they’ll be happy doing. Because our personality is not set in stone, we don’t always know our own wants and desires. A saying says “What we think we want is not always what we want”. The same goes for what we do and what we think we ought to do. We don’t always know what we really want. Many people spend their lives looking for a different person, a different job, or a different way of life. They dream about it, plan, wish, and finally realize that it’s not a possibility for them. Do you know what you really want? Are you sure that you want the kind of life you’re living? When we accept the truth that our wants and desires are not written in stone, it frees us up to look for a happy life. When we don’t know what we want, we can find happiness in other ways. Some of these other ways include being with others, being part of a community, helping others, and working on creating a world that serves more people. One view of happiness is as a decision. If we decide to put the needs of others before ourselves, if we are altruistic and not self-centered, if we seek to benefit others in our lives and not just ourselves, we can find happiness that way. If we act on our desires and goals, happiness will come. If we are good to others and try to contribute something to the world, we can still find happiness. And, we can do this without having to obtain any personal gain.

Developing a perspective on life

Life is a living process. It’s a fluid experience. If you live in the moment, you won’t lose yourself or get lost in the experiences. You’ll be with the things as they are. You won’t go forward or back into the past or future. You’ll be present. You have a right to enjoy your life and experience the moment that you live in right now. You have the right to be happy, and to fulfill yourself. To do these things, you need to live with awareness. You need to be conscious of what you do, what you think, what you say, and how you act. You’re present when you’re present. If you’re too involved with your thoughts and judgments, you miss it. You won’t enjoy yourself. And, you’ll fail to take care of yourself, which means that you’ll be unhappy. If you’re not careful, you may find yourself trying to fit into the values of society. You can find yourself justifying to others that you’re not happy because you’re not making money. Or, because you’re not married. Or, because you’re not powerful. By holding on to our needs, we sacrifice the ability to create happiness. Because, when we’re very aware of our thoughts, our actions, and our words, we can’t easily get away from ourselves. We have the ability to feel more deeply for other people and for the planet. And we have the ability to enjoy things more, no matter what we do, who we’re with, or what we say. We can feel more deeply for other people and for the planet because we know where we are and where we’re going. This freedom is something that we should seek, so that we can live with awareness. Then we’ll be free to enjoy life. Then we’ll be happy. Then we’ll create a different world, where we’re free from the bonds of greed, ignorance, and delusion.

Happiness is a choice

Happiness is a choice. The kind of happiness that we seek is not the type of happiness that most of us have. It’s the kind of happiness that makes us the most free. We’ve all been influenced by society’s values, culture, and education. We have inherited beliefs and perspectives that are not easily questioned or altered. This gives us beliefs and perspectives that limit our sense of self. These biases create a mental set that does not allow us to enjoy life. The feeling of happiness is conditional upon who you are and what you are doing. It’s based on a social framework that works within an institutionalized structure of government and societal roles. These social structures create conflict between the ideal and reality of happiness. When we realize that happiness is a choice, then we can take it, and live with awareness. Then we won’t be limited by society’s expectations and beliefs. Then we won’t let go of the possibility of living in the kind of world that we want. Then we can begin to enjoy ourselves as we please. This is the kind of happiness that we can find. And this is the kind of happiness that will take us on to the highest levels of individual and world well-being.

Conclusion

As a conclusion to this article, I would like to make one simple statement: “We don’t have to wait for happiness to happen. We can choose to be happy.” Happiness can be chosen because happiness is a choice. It’s not something that we have to wait for. We don’t have to wait for anything. Happiness is a choice. I hope that you’ve found this article helpful in understanding the concept of happiness, and in finding it for yourself. I hope that you find it useful in your personal life.
